The Class of 1981 gifted $6,400 to refurbish and redesign the FLHS interior courtyard in memory of Gerry Genuino, the longtime district employee and beloved colleague who sadly passed in April 2020 from COVID-19. “Our class is very active and we are a big community,” said Linda Mann-Spelling, who now resides in Mahwah. “Anything we can do to give back to those years we had here, we will do.” The Class of 1981 is an active class and after touring the school as part of their 40th reunion events, they heard there was a need to renovate the courtyard and pond. “Everyone was excited to do it and have their legacy left behind,” said Maria Morone-Zotto of Fair Lawn. Donations were also made by the FLHS PTA, Gerry Genuino Fund, Fair Lawn Athletic Club, and Fair Lawn Knights of Columbus. The FLASE PTO gifted $3,000 to help refurbish a Koi pond in memory of Gerry Genuino.
Contracting services will be provided by Kodiak Services, LLC, owned by John Hackaspker, an alumnus of FLHS Class of 1990. When the project is finished, photos of the completed renovation and Koi pond will be shared.
