Fair Lawn Schools hosted their second FAMILY STEM NIGHT last night. Our sixth grade students returned to their schools with their families and participated in various STEM activities led by some of our Middle School STEM teachers.

Last night, Fair Lawn fifth grade students were invited back to school to participate in FAMILY STEM NIGHT. They participated in engaging science, technology, engineering and math activities with their families. MS STEM teachers hosted, and FLHS STEM Club students helped out.

Students at TJMS explored their nervous system through various activities such as testing reaction time, puzzles, and brain teasers. These lessons took place during the "body systems" unit of 5th grade health and were organized by Ms. Howe, Mr. Gogerty, Mr. Samra & Ms. Wood.

Congratulations to Miss Zimmer for receiving a proclamation last night at Borough Hall. This proclamation recognizes Autism Awareness Month and Miss Zimmer, along other community individuals, were selected to be representatives for Autism Awareness Month because of their commitment to their students, community leaders in the area of autism awareness and their ability to help others thrive. Miss Zimmer is a member of the Fair Lawn Access for All Committee whose mission is to promote help and support for differently abled adults. Congratulations Miss Zimmer for your dedication and commitment towards helping others, not only at TJMS, but the entire Fair Lawn Community.

Proclamation
Since the beginning of March, the 5th and 6th grade students at Memorial have been engaged in our Math March Madness IXL Challenge. Although there are still four more days of competition left, we couldn't resist sharing this exciting update. So far, the 5th and 6th grade students at Memorial have collectively answered an impressive 172,549 math questions in March! Great job, Memorial! We eagerly anticipate announcing the winning team on Thursday! A big thank you to the Memorial math team, Mrs. Minery, Mrs. Yar, Mrs. Cuevas, Mrs. Kruk, Mrs. Scaglione, Mrs. Do, Mrs. Geib, Mrs. Meccia, Mrs. Patasnik, and Mrs. Howard for leading such an engaging challenge.

Our grade 7 science students have begun their trips to the Fair Lawn HS planetarium which will continue over the next several week. We are lucky to have this amazing resource. Juniors and seniors at FLHS may take a full year astronomy course which uses this facility also.

Recently, 8th grade students, from Thomas Jefferson Middle School, visited the Holocaust Museum Center for Tolerance and Education at Rockland Community College in New York. The mission of the center is to educate, through the lens of the Holocaust, about the dangers of intolerance, to invoke critical thinking, and to inspire moral courage in the face of injustice.
