College and Career Planning - Family Connection
Beginning in 10th grade, the Fair Lawn High School Counseling Department teaches students to use Family Connection from Naviance, a Web-based tool that students and parents can use to help in making decisions about future careers and college programs.
Registered and trained students and their parents may visit our school’s Family Connection site at home, using any computer Web browser to connect to:
Students and parents can continue to use these important resources throughout high school by signing in using the e-mail address (user name) and password the student chose during the registration process.
We encourage students to get started in the career planning and college advising process by completing the Exploring Interests Survey and the Do What You Are Survey. The results will link you to career information, potential college majors, and colleges. Results may be discussed with the student’s counselor.
We hope that you will find this resource helpful. If you have further questions, please contact us at the Fair Lawn High School Counseling Office.
Parents of Juniors
Parents of Juniors will receive their own log on username and password linked to their child's Naviance account at our annual Junior Parents Night in January. If you were unable to attend our program, please contact your child's guidance counselor for your registration code. Instructions for how to register and a quick overview of Naviance features can be found in the presentation below.

G Suite for Education (formerly Google Apps)
Dear Parent/Guardian,
G Suite for Education is an online suite of applications designed for schools which includes calendars, email, web pages, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations -- all of which synchronize and flow together and integrate into existing course curricula. G Suite is provided free of charge to schools, colleges and universities across the United States and around the world. We believe these tools will provide the essential skills students will need to be adept in the global workplace of this century.
To encourage the use of 21st Century Learning skills and increase communication and collaboration among students and teachers, one or more of your child’s classes maybe using G Suite during the school year. ALL STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN THE G SUITE for EDUCATION PROGRAM MUST HAVE PARENT/GUARDIAN PERMISSION. Permission form is available on the Genesis Parent Portal (Forms tab); alternatively, you can print/sign the Technology & Applications Permission form here. If you have already signed the G Suite permission form, you do not need to sign this again for the new school year.

G SUITE for EDUCATION - an Introduction
In the spring of 2012, Fair Lawn launched a pilot program, introducing Google Apps to a few middle and high school classroom teachers. The program has expanded each year since then. There are many resources to assist both teachers and students in using Google Apps. There is a site of resources for Fair Lawn teachers (google login required). The resources below are designed for both students and teachers:
Here is a brief intro to the basics of G Suite in Fair Lawn.

Genesis Features for Parents
Parents and Guardians now have the ability to edit/update their contact information in the Genesis Portal (CONTACTS tab). Rather than print and edit the Emergency Contact Information page, you can now edit your contact information directly on the portal. Please note that although this information will update immediately in our database, the updated information will not display on the Emergency Contact Form until the reports update each weekend.
Attendance notifications can now be posted in the Genesis Portal, instead of calling the school. Parents/Guardians can now post their child’s absence via the Genesis portal (ONLY Portal Accounts registered to a Parent/Guardian will have this enabled). See the Directions to Post Absence on the Genesis portal for more details.
Genesis Portal Registration
When you register your child in Fair Lawn schools, the email you provide will AUTOMATICALLY be used to create a Genesis Portal Account for the parent/guardian. Once a week, emails are sent to new accounts with directions to login and a document explaining the various screens on the portal.
Students (gr 6-12) with a Fair Lawn Google Account will have a Genesis STUDENT Portal account automatically created, using the same username/password.
If you have questions about your Genesis Portal account, please email the Fair Lawn Genesis Help Desk (Email Help Desk )
