Sometimes, the message of what is good about public education becomes obscured. Public schools provide opportunities for all students. In Fair Lawn, we recognize that every student has a different gift. Some are academically talented and others are musicians, writers, athletes, dancers, actors or humanitarians, and while in our schools each receives recognition or applause for their talents.

The Fair Lawn Report Card contains vital information about school environment, student performance indicators, staff, and district finances in a statistical and comparative basis.

Our curriculum supports high level thinking and problem solving skills which require all students to develop the reading and writing abilities that are essential to success. To this end, our rigorous elementary and middle school curriculum provides challenging opportunities for academic excellence. The high school program offers students a wide range of courses, from an abundance of college preparatory, honors, and advanced placement courses, to concurrent college enrollment opportunities for students to follow their particular interests, while receiving college credits.

Circumstances do not determine whether a good school district can become a great school district, it is a matter of conscience choice and discipline. It is the understanding of what fuels this district’s fire-- its rigorous curriculum, its talented people, and disciplined action over time.

The fundamental purpose of this district is to ensure high levels of learning for all students.

In addition, we also subscribe to the research that tells us that good teaching is interactive. It engages the child individually and while each of our accomplishments, including aligning our curriculum to the Common Core Standards, preparing for PARCC Testing and the next generation Science Standards, we must never lose sight of the equally important accomplishments and successes (large and small) that take place every day in each of our schools. The Fair Lawn Public Schools and the community in which we thrive truly believe that “The Leaders of Tomorrow Attend Fair Lawn Schools Today.”
