I am a lifelong
resident of Fair Lawn for 65 years. I am
married to my husband, Joseph, and I have three grown children, Josette, Joseph
Jr., and Jon.
degree is from William Paterson University in Elementary Education but I
am certified for Pre-school through Grade 8. I have a Master Degree
from Marygrove College
in the Art of Teaching.
I spent 35 years
in the classroom before retiring from the Garfield District in 2013. My teaching experience included Pre-school to
Grade 6. I spent 18 years in a full-day
kindergarten program. As an educator, I
helped develop the full-day kindergarten curriculum and the curriculum to
transition the pre-school to kindergarten.
Throughout my career, I served on many grade level curriculum writing
teams. I also chaired the IR and S Committee
for 5 years working with the teachers and child study teams. I helped develop the Professional Development
which I chaired also for 5 years. I was
active as the teacher representative for the PTA and served as President on my
children’s PTA. I helped the teachers in
my building as the Building Union Representative and sat on the state board as
a State Union Representative. I loved
being involved and working in the capacity with the administration, teachers,
parents and the children.
As a member of
the Board, I hope to work with the administration, my fellow Board Members, and
the public to provide the students of Fair Lawn with the tools and skills to be
productive members of society and to attain their goals they strive for.
